Young artists are capable of amazing things! Don’t miss the chance to see this exhibit of extraordinary artwork created by young artists in the Long Island community. Now in its 19th year, Long Island’s Best challenges students in grades 9 through 12 from across Nassau and Suffolk Counties to choose a work of art in the Museum as the starting point for their own creative exploration. The quality of the artwork is exceptional and delivers a professional-level show. This year, 54 public and private schools submitted students’ artwork for jurying. 311 student entries were received and Curator Lisa Chalif selected 80 for display in the galleries. An artist statement written by the student accompanies each artwork on view, explaining the thought process and artistic journey from conception to completion. Exhibiting artists, teachers, and school administrators are invited to attend an Opening Reception and Awards Ceremony on Saturday, March 28, 2015, 5:30 to 7:30 pm.

Museum visitors will determine who receives the Visitors Choice Grumbacher Award, generously sponsored by the thalo.com artist community, to be presented to one young artist at the Closing Reception on April 19. Vote at the Visitor Services Desk through April 12.
