Book Club Host Jeri Weitman Retiring; Book List Still Resonates

Jeri Weitman has led the The Heckscher Museum of Art Book Club for more than 20 years. The former Heckscher Museum staffer, and later,  enthusiastic Book Club volunteer and host, is retiring.

“Over the years Jeri has done a wonderful job of choosing and researching every art book that she selected for our patrons. She has always given everyone so much background information about the artist, time period, art movement, etc. that all book group  members have had an extraordinary experience,” said Joy Weiner, Director of Education and Public Programs. The Museum thanks Weitman for her continued dedication and inspiration.

Whether you enjoy historical novels such as The Boehemians by Jazmin Darznik about Jazz Age photographer Dorothea Lange; or non-fiction such as Portraits by Michael Kimmelman, where the New York Times art critic profiles Roy Lichtenstein, Cindy Sherman and other artists, Weitman’s choices were thought provoking, fun, and always art-focused. Weitman is pictured above, sitting fourth from the left, with the book club.

With well over 100 books on the list, book lovers can still catch up on Weitman’s inspired choices for The Heckscher Museum Book Club.
