Teachers participating in LI Best will also be provided with unlimited online access to a video overview of the high school juried exhibition. NEW! Enhance your Visit with an Outdoor Soundwalk

Extend your visit with a soundwalk experience before or after your field trip! The Museum has two new outdoor soundwalks for students to explore. One is just steps outside the Museum in scenic Heckscher Park and the other is at the nearby historic home and studio of modernist artists Arthur Dove and Helen Torr, the Dove/Torr Cottage (located at 30 Centershore Road, Centerport, NY).
The soundwalk in Heckscher Park uncovers the history of the park and the sounds of nature that surround the Museum. At the Dove/Torr Cottage, students will learn the story of Helen Torr and Arthur Dove and explore the sounds of nature around the property that inspired her art.Â
These outdoor self-guided tours are free and available all year round in the Museum’s digital guide in the Bloomberg Connects app. To begin, students and teachers may simply scan the QR codes on the outdoor signage at each location using their phones. Or, if you prefer to look at the soundwalks before your visit, download the Museum’s digital guide in Bloomberg Connects to get started today!
The soundwalks were created with support from a Dorothy C. Radgowski Learning Through Women’s Achievement in the Arts Grant, a joint effort of Where Women Made History (WWMH), and HAHS at the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

We just wanted to say THANK YOU! The virtual field trips were so good! Everyone has been group texting on how great the experience was. We really appreciate the extra effort and work that goes into doing this virtually. I am so glad it worked out and can’t wait to see what our students create for Long Island’s Best!
– Vanessa Albaneze, Art Teacher, John F. Kennedy HS, Bellmore
[My Heckscher virtual field trip] was a wonderful experience! The staff presented content in a variety of ways and they discussed topics on both a broad and personal level, which held my students’ attention and allowed them to share their individual stories. I would definitely recommend Heckscher programs to other art teachers!
– Allyson Uttendorfer, AP Art and Design & Photography teacher, Half Hollow Hills HS East
NAHS 6x6 Collaborative

CREATE, COLLABORATE, EXHIBIT!
2025 marks the 11th annual National Art Honor Society 6×6 Collaborative! This program brings National Art Honor Society (NAHS) Chapters together to collaborate, create and exhibit! Students from different high schools meet for a Museum experience, learn about artwork on view and ultimately create and exhibit their work in the Museum in the spring in the form of a 6″ x 6″ mini work of art!
