LEARN MORE

Off the Wall: Sculpture from the Permanent Collection is a visual feast of three-dimensional work from the Museum’s collection. Representational works focusing on the human figure include pieces as diverse as François Girardon’s baroque masterpiece The Rape of Proserpine, Hiram Powers’ 19th century bust of George Washington and Daniel Chester French’s Seated Lincoln, Red Grooms’ lively construction Picasso, and John Rogers’ charming genre group Checkers up at the Farm. Abstract work by Dorothy Dehner, Ibram Lassaw, Tony Rosenthal, and Long Island artists Dick Shanley and Esphyr Slobodkina, among many others, will also be featured. A wide range of sculptural mediums will be represented, including works executed in marble, bronze, plaster, wood, stainless steel, ceramic, and stone. Sculptors’ drawings from the Permanent Collection will also be on display.
