Last Chance to See George Grosz’s Masterpiece Eclipse of the Sun until 2026.

Picture Perfect: Selections from the Permanent Collection George Grosz Eclipse of the Sun . 1926

Don’t Miss the chance to see George Grosz: The Stick Men, named by the art site Hyperallergic as one of “8 shows to see in August.” The exhibition is on view at The Heckscher Museum through September 1.

This also marks the last time George Grosz’s masterpiece Eclipse of the Sun will be on view in the galleries until 2026. That year will mark the 100th anniversary Eclipse of the Sun — among the signature works of art by Grosz, and the most  significant artwork in our collection.  Eclipse of the Sun will be on loan to another museum during 2025 (details to come), and the painting will be featured in a special exhibition in our galleries in 2026.

“Given our current moment, it’s really worth taking a look at these works by one of the greatest political artists of the 20th century and reflecting on how many of us don’t want to confront the realities before our very eyes,” noted Hyperallergic’s Hrag Vartanian in describing The Stick Men exhibition.
